FREEFLY: Senior Mentor Project

The objective for this project was to collaborate with a classmate and design a local community mentor center in South Philadelphia for the purpose of providing a program for both seniors and children which will ultimatley help to support the needs of the local community which is known to be an low-income area in the city.
Concept:
To create a space that incorporates balance, central density, and linear movement in order to mimic the symbolic life cycle of a butterfly. These factors will help to communicate and teach the importance of: the human life cycle (from young to old), the fundamentals needed for childhood growth and development, the importance of building relationships between senior citizens and children, and the importance of being free to do what any person or child dreams of doing.
